I did this piece last Spring for the anthology Studygroup 12 #4, and I'm pretty proud of it. I've been interested in plants, and parasites, and our ability to remain human. Lots of things went into this one: the cordyceps fungus, Yggdrasil and its wyrm, oak galls, housing developments, and Bosch's Garden of Earthly delights, with its strange red-blue circular pool and glass bubbles the tiny people play in.

  1. Wow, this is really a beautiful post, very thought-provoking, with your design and research materials/sources for your associations. It gave me a really fresh way to look at The Garden Of Earthly Delights, which is something since that image is so ubiquitous.

In terms of the work of yours I've seen on this blog, this piece seems like a kind of capstone statement or full flowering of lots of the themes you've been handling. Really very nice. I will probably link to this from my blog.

Your post also led to me getting an answer to a caterpillar related question I've had since childhood: so I will post the story of that too.

    Your work is great!

  2. Thanks Kerry! I've been really loving to work on all these insect/people pieces - they are fun, and I like learning how to draw new plants and things. This piece was actually the first one I did of the series, but I wasn't able to post about it until now!
